I Heart Roc – What I Love About Rochester
19 August 2016
I was born and raised in Penfield. I watched the town grow – from living near a cornfield in Penfield Hills to visiting the first fast food restaurant, Carol’s, in Panorama Plaza (where Burger King is now) and shopping at J.M. Fields. As one of eight, family is everything. Everyone is here in Rochester; we believe in community – whether it’s cultural or educational – Rochester has it all!
I love taking my grandchildren around town. We’ve gone zip-lining in Bristol, taken a helicopter ride over Niagara Falls, camping in the Adirondacks, and racetrack racing near Marketplace. My daughters and I love going to concerts. Wherever there is good music, you’ll find me! We recently went to Luke Bryan at CMAC; earlier this summer I was jamming at the Jazz Fest and I love the intimacy of Water Street Music Hall. I’m also blessed to have season tickets to both GEVA Theater and the Rochester Auditorium! I get to see plays, musicals, and one-man shows year round!
When I have spare time, I love to golf! And Rochester has amazing golf courses! If there is a tournament, you can find me in attendance and competing. This past weekend I participated in Nothnagle’s 27th Annual Charity Golf Tournament benefiting Camp Good Days. Great people, great course, and helping out a great cause.
Rochester is known for its exceptional education – private, public, and collegiate. As a member of Saint Joseph’s Elementary first graduating class (yes, I am dating myself) to Penfield High School to attending Saint John Fisher College I have been extremely lucky to experience great Rochester education.
